Power. Money. Status.

Whatever I want, I get.

And if something stands in my way?

I conquer and destroy it.

I’m a monster with no redeeming qualities.

A hunter who seeks his prey so viciously nothing can stop me.

My prey hides in the shadows thinking it might save him from my wrath.

It won’t.

A true hunter knows one rule:

Every prey can be lured out of the darkness with the right bait.

And I just found mine.

His daughter.

The monster inside me craves to possess her.

A beauty who ends up trapped in a castle by the horrible beast.

Seducing and then breaking her will be my greatest conquest.

After all, la vida es cruel.

Life is cruel.

And so am I.

Santiago’s Conquest is the first book in the Four Dark Horseman series, and it tells the story of Santiago and Briseis. Santiago is one of the four dark horsemen, along with Remi, Octavius, and Florian. The story takes place in the same world as several of the author’s other novels, and we see cameos from Lachlan, Callum, and Arson. Even though this is true, Santiago’s Conquest can be read as a standalone dark romance. Although, if you’re like me and enjoy knowing the backstories, I recommend reading Callum’s Hell, Arson’s Captive, and Lachlan’s Protégé.

In this story, Santiago and Briseis have both had rough childhoods that no one should ever experience. As a result, Santiago vows revenge on the people responsible, and his plan happens to involve blackmailing his enemy’s daughter. Briseis has grown up never knowing love, and she hates Santiago for everything that he’s done. However, Santiago and Briseis’s desire for each other grows, and so does their feelings.

V.F. Mason has a way of writing that completely engulfs me. Not only are her storylines gripping, but her characters are so well developed and complex. Santiago’s Conquest may be one of my favorites, and I absolutely devoured it. I seriously couldn’t get enough, and I longed for the pages to never end.

About the Author:
V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her momma over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it. When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
