Mother of Shadows is a thrilling paranormal romance full of love, drama, and angst. It’s Meg Anne’s debut novel and the first in a series called The Chosen. I was fully engrossed in the story and had a hard time putting my Kindle down. Even though I knew it contained a cliffhanger… I still got to the last page and went… AHH!

In this story, Helena has had a normal childhood in a world full of magic. She’s looking forward to seeing her best friend Darrin come for a visit. Although, this was no normal trip home. Darrin came home to tell Helena a secret. A secret of who she really is!

As we get more into the story, we find out that Helena has to chose a mate, and Von is someone that calls out to her. I was at war with myself as both Darrin and Helena expressed feeling for each other at the beginning of the story. Although, as her shield… they are not allowed to date. I did come to like Von, but of course… Von and Darrin don’t get along!

Mother of Shadows is an exciting and suspenseful story, and I can’t wait for the next!

Meg Anne has always had stories running on a loop in her head. They started off as daydreams about how the evil queen (aka Mom) had her slaving away doing chores; and more recently shifted into creating backgrounds about the people stuck beside her during rush hour. The stories have been there, they were just waiting for her to tell them.

Like any true SoCal native, Meg enjoys staying inside curled up with a good book and her cat Henry… or maybe that’s just her; sunburns hurt! You can convince Meg to buy just about anything if it’s covered in glitter or rhinestones, or make her laugh by sharing your favorite bad joke. She also accepts bribes in the form of baked goods and Mexican food.
