Deceit - Review

Title: Deceit
A Friends to Lovers Standalone Romance
Author: R.C. Stephens
Release Date: June 2, 2020

Some love stories are picture perfect, like a rainbow after a rainstorm.

That’s the complete opposite of us.

Our story was tragic from the start.

Grace was never meant to be mine.

My father warned me and my twin, Jacob that she was forbidden fruit.

I tried to stay away, but you know what they say, you always want what you can’t have.

And did I want Grace.

Too bad Jacob felt the same way.

I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I was going to make her mine.

Problem is I didn’t realize just how deep deceit could run, or the pains people would go through to keep us apart.

All I knew is that Grace was the girl of my dreams and I wanted her more than my last breath…

Deceit is an emotional story written by author R.C. Stephens. It was previously published in 2017 and titled Where Promises Die. When I first picked Deceit up, I didn’t realize that I’ve read the original story. It has since been edited and updated, although the main structure, more or less, has stayed the same.

Deceit tells the story of Grace, whose mother has recently passed away. Since she didn’t have any other family, so went to live with her mother’s best friend from high school. Her new family was much more religious, and she had a difficult time adjusting. Although she soon formed a connection with Knox (whose name was changed from Eisav). As they got older, their relationship grew from one of friendship to one of love. They began sneaking around until one evening, they were caught.

Deceit’s storyline was an emotional roller coaster ride, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
