Cruel Beloved is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance written by author TL Smith. This story is part of the Cocky Hero Club, which are stories that have been influenced by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s Cocky Bastard book series. Each book has been written by a different author and can be read as a standalone romance.

Cruel Beloved grabbed me from the very beginning and would not let me go. I just loved Carla Star from the very beginning. She’s the daughter of a senator, and she’s grown up in a wealthy household that was often cold and uncaring. Carla often had to dress up and portray the good girl, but she liked to go out and have fun. One evening she met Corton Whiskey, and they had a very steamy one-night stand. Then, one year later, Carla received a hand-delivered letter, and everything changed.

I wasn’t a big fan of Corton at the beginning, but he did grow on me. Throughout Corton and Carla’s story, my fingers were gripping my Kindle tightly. I seriously could not put it down, and read late into the night!
