Under Her Authority is L.T. Shade’s debut novel and a refreshing new take on an office romance. I began this story thinking it was going to be like many other office romances, but I was wrong! Rosemary (Rose) Berkowitz moved back home to begin working as a Marketing Director for a startup company in Charlotte, NC. Rose did not want to move back to North Carolina for many emotional reasons, but she did not have any other choice. The first night she goes out with her best friend Olive and meets Shane Williams in a very compromising position. Their chemistry is off the charts as they spend the evening playing pool and getting to know each other. Surprisingly, on the first day of her new job, Rose discovers that not only does Shane work at the same company, but SHE is his boss. I truly enjoyed this twist and especially loved the journey that Ms. Shade takes us.
The storyline is well-paced, refreshing, and I enjoyed the unexpected emotional parts within the story. The characters are well developed and engaging and I was rooting for Rose and Shane. The sex scenes were hot and steamy and I had a difficult time putting my Kindle down! Under Her Authority is a wonderful book and I look forward to more of Ms. Shade’s work!
