We’re Monsters wraps up this panty melting paranormal series. It has pirates, beasts, magic, and a lot of steamy scenes. After battling it out for two books, the ensemble cast comes together to fight the monsters that threaten to end the world as they know it.

One of the things I really like about this series is how strong all the characters are.  The men and the women of the main ensemble are all richly drawn as the perspective shifts. I thought the parallels between Skylar and Leonette stories were very compelling and interesting to watch play out. This third book was very action-packed in both traditional action and between the sheets action.  The second book was a little less steamy, this third one was on fire! The author definitely found her groove all the way around and brought the series to a dramatic and satisfying close.

Great, sexy, action-packed, series and this is a lot of fun!

Steal an heirloom. Steal a ship. Steal a glance. Steal a kiss…
Skylar D’Apra is a pirate with a plan:
First:
Capture Jag Harver—the reckless thief who stole the Crest of
Miracles (the most powerful relic in the realm)—and return him to
the Ruling Council to suffer whatever fate he finds.
Second:
Use her reward money to sail away with the makings of her very own
fleet. To tame the seas and conquer undiscovered lands.
Simple.
Or so it seems until the day she actually captures the infamous Jag
Harver and he turns out to be as devious, delicious and intoxicating
as the rumours suggest. And it looks like the relic he
stole may actually be safer in his hands than anywhere else…
Skylar swore she wouldn’t get tangled up in magic, mayhem and the madness
of monsters. She vowed to claim the sea as her home and live on
another day. But now something darker is calling, veering her off
track, and it all began with that damned, Jag Harver.
Sail away on this New Adult Paranormal Romance! A tale of rogue
pirates, magical beings, alpha-males and monsters. Compared to A
Court of Mist and Fury with more steam and pirates.

We’re All Thieves is a fun paranormal adventure with pirates, beasts, magic, and a lot of steamy scenes. Capturing Jag should have been the high point for the captain of the pirates, Skylar, but something about him just makes her uneasy – down there. Jag is wanted by the high council for stealing a powerful magical item. The council is a bunch of bloodsuckers (literally) who protect their part of the world for their own benefit. They don’t like the fact they were stolen from and that Jag has this power that none of them have successfully wielded. Oh, and there is a rebel faction who live outside the council’s protection who are not too happy with their lot in life and want revenge.

We’re All Thieves started out strong with the telling of the pirates who capture Jag and their captain who begins to be conflicted between treasure and the feelings inspired by Jag. The middle of the book drags a little for me. I think it’s like an action movie. You know, when the characters are required to tell you what is going on and show a little emotional conflict or else the movie doesn’t make sense and it’s just a bunch of people shooting guns and chasing each other in cool cars. I say that because the last 50% of the book was on fire in all ways – sex, action, conflict, romance, and sex (yes I said it twice because there is more than twice the amount than the first half of the book). No longer hampered by explaining themselves everyone’s story takes off.

The book ends in a cliffhanger, but that kinda works for it. The author leaves you just on the edge.

Great read and lots of fun!

         Welcome to Illeia!

Bound by more than blood, Skylar follows Jag into a world of betrayal, debauchery and impossible power. But when Jag Harver enters the realm where his magic was born, it thrives in ways they couldn’t possibly imagine, and Jag isn’t the only one affected.

In the Three-Regions, the Rogues grow stronger and the Coal Prince finds himself forced to do something he swore he’d never do.

Heroes, monsters, and Daka – oh my! We’re All Monsters packs in a lot of action both on the battlefield and in the bedroom!

We’re All Monsters is the continuation of We’re All Thieves.  Jag and Skylar continue their quest for answers and a little saving of the world too. While the first book included Malakai and Leonette, their stories were much more integral to this second book. Malakai is part of the ruling council and is able to use is magic in many ways. This includes shifting into the bodies of others for both sneaky and pleasurable ways.  Leonette is part of the rebels, fighting against the ruling council and bringing hope to her people.  Her intriguing relationship with the other rebel leader is tested as she finds a connection with Caspian while recruiting new forces in their battle for safety and a better life for her people.  Despite my rather heavy description, We’re all monsters is fun and action-packed – even more so than the first book as we are not bogged down with a lot of exposition.

Pretty much all the main characters get it on in this book.  Battling and combat definitely turns them all on! The story is gripping and covers all sorts of mystical realms that give the book a strong, sexy, paranormal story. Again the book ends in a cliffhanger, but that kinda works for it. The author leaves you just on the edge and I love how she leaves us second guessing some of our assumptions about who is good and who is bad.

Definitely worth a read!
