Shattered Reflections is the fifth book in the McAllister Justice series by author Reily Garrett. This story can be read as a standalone romantic thriller as each book tells the story of a different McAllister brother. I do believe reading the series from the beginning will give you a greater foundation to understand and appreciate the storyline but know that it’s not mandatory.
Shattered Reflections tells the story of Matthew McAllister, the oldest of the McAllister brothers. Matt works in law enforcement, and he is very close to his brothers. It’s really amusing when the brothers are together as they usually like to make jokes and tease each other.
Kathryn Nugle is a private Investigator and friendly with the McAllisters. She often receives advice from them as well as their extra cases. She recently was hired by Denny Alscher who was attacked by two men. Denny hired Katt to find these two men, and she soon finds herself at Matt’s house going over the new case. Let me tell you, the sexual tension between Matt and Katt was off the charts! You could tell they both cared for each other, but they just couldn’t get their acts together. After a while, it just became frustrating as I just wanted them to get together. When they did, it was intense and worth the wait.
Shattered Reflections has several twists and turns which I didn’t expect. It also has a nice balance of humor and suspense which I absolutely loved! Often when things were getting really suspenseful, one of the brothers said something funny, which just made me laugh.

Reily’s employment as an ICU nurse, private investigator, and work in the military police has given her countless experiences in a host of different environments to add a real world feel to her fiction.Though her kids are her life, writing is Reily’s life after. The one enjoyed…after the kids are in bed or after they’re in school and the house is quiet. This is the time she kicks back with laptop and lapdog to give her imagination free rein.
In life, hobbies can come and go according to our physical abilities, but you can always enjoy a good book. Life isn’t perfect, but our imaginations can be. Relax, whether it’s in front of a fire or in your own personal dungeon. Take pleasure in a mental pause as you root for your favorite hero/heroine and bask in their accomplishments, then share your opinions of them over a coffee with your best friend (even if he’s four-legged). Life is short.
