Overall: 4 / 5
Picture Perfect Cowboy was originally written as a short story titled Watermark in ‘Exposed: A Romance Anthology’ by author Tiffany Reisz. Ms. Reisz has since adapted the novella to a full-length story, which is set in the world of her Original Sinners series. Picture Perfect Cowboy is a complete standalone and can be read with or without reading the prior books in the series.
In this story, Jason Waters is a well-known Bull Riding Champion, who has since retired. The story begins with Jason going to meet Simone, a photographer from NYC, who is going to take pictures of him naked for a charity calendar to support literacy. Jason’s family is very conservative, and he’s a little uncomfortable doing this. Simone seems to be the opposite of Jason, being more vivacious and having pink hair. We learn that Jason has desires to be dominant in the bedroom and hopes that Simone can show him the basics.
I had a hard time connecting with the characters at the beginning of the story. Simone and Jason just seemed so different, that I couldn’t get into their sex scenes. As the story moved along and their relationship grew, I became more connected to the characters. Then, everything seemed to connect within the story, and I became completely absorbed in the book. I will say that compared to some of the other books that I have read from the author, this story was not as explicit as some of her others. I would say this was more of a BDSM – Lite story.

Tiffany Reisz is the author of the internationally bestselling and award-winning Original Sinners series for Mira Books (Harlequin/Mills & Boon). Tiffany’s books inhabit a sexy shadowy world where romance, erotica and literature meet and do immoral and possibly illegal things to each other. She describes her genre as “literary friction,” a term she stole from her main character, who gets in trouble almost as often as the author herself. She lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband, author Andrew Shaffer, and two cats. If she couldn’t write, she would die.
